As the title page explains, this book is "a delectus of maxims, sentiments and precepts, selected from the Greek profane writers and the New Testament; to which are added the ΧΡΥΣΑ ΕΠΗ of Pythagoras and Bion's Epitaph on Adonis, with short notes, a vocabulary and other helps calculated to facilitate the early study of Greek."
